Blantyre Synod clocks 150 years
CCAP Blantyre Synod general secretary the Reverend Anderson Juma says the 150th Anniversary Celebration for the church is open to everyone.
Speaking in an interview, he said since Scottish missionaries established the Blantyre Mission in 1876, which gave birth to what is known today as Blantyre City, every Malawian should be proud to join the celebration.

He said: “Blantyre Mission has touched a lot of souls. As Blantyre Mission, we have impacted the nation in education and health.
“Going by history, the first Reserve Bank office of Nyasaland was at Blantyre Mission. So, you cannot talk about the economic development in Malawi without talking about Blantyre Mission.”
The three-day celebration starts on Friday with a tour of the historical sites on the Blantyre Mission premises commonly known as HHI followed by an anniversary march in conjunction with Blantyre City Council in Blantyre central business district on Saturday and a thanksgiving service of worship at the Henry Henderson School of Excellence ground on Sunday.
Speaking in a special programme on the Blantyre Synod Radio, former synod general secretary The Very Reverend Professor Silas Ncozana cited the St. Michael and All Angels cathedral as one of the attractions at the Blantyre Mission which is a testament of the unifying power of the synod to the nation.
