Bullets, Arrows in mind games

FCB Nyasa Bullets and their CAF Champions League  opponents Red Arrows of Zambia have thrown in some mind games ahead of their preliminary round first leg this Sunday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Zambia MTN Super League champions’ coach Chisi Mbewe yesterday told a press briefing in Lusaka that they are coming to Malawi full of confidence having done enough homework about the TNM Super League champions.

The former Zambia Under-20 national football team coach boasted of having enough knowledge about Bullets, including their key players who they plan to defuse.

He said: “We have watched them play. That will surely help us to approach the game in Malawi. We have enough information about them and players they bank on.”

The coach, however, acknowledged that Bullets are not pushovers and that they expect the fixture, which will be the first ever between the two sides, to be a tricky one.

“I know it is a tricky fixture playing away as we do not have underdogs in football but we will fight,” he said.

But Bullets acting chief executive officer Albert Chigoga in an interview yesterday downplayed the Red Arrows coach’s mind games.

Meanwhile, the Zambians are expected to jet in the country today while Bullets left Blantyre for Lilongwe yesterday.

Chigoga said preparations for the match are going on smoothly.

“Technical, commercial and administrative preparations are going on really well. We anticipate that everything will be fine,” he said.

The return leg will be played on August 24 with the winner set to meet TP Mazembe in the second round.
