Carlsberg Cup round of 16 kicks off tomorrow
The Carlsberg Cup round of 16 kicks off tomorrow after Football Association of Malawi (FAM) rescheduled the matches due to availability of venues and other competitions commitments.
The match between Wizard FC and Mzuzu United, which was supposed to be played today, has been rescheduled to Saturday.
The match between Prison United and Zomba United has also been rescheduled from this Saturday to Sunday.
“It’s basically due logistic arrangement on the availability of venues and other competitions commitments. This has also resulted in the change for the Super League fixtures,” said FAM competitions manager Gomezgani Zakazaka.
Wizards coach McDonald Yobe said they had received communication from FAM on the changes.
“This means this week we are not travelling,” said Yobe.
According to fixtures released by Sulom, Epac FC will host Be Forward Wanderers at Civo Stadium Sunday while Mafco will host Silver Strikers at Chitowe.
Wanderers will wrap their trip to Central Region with a fixture against Blue Eagles at Nankhaka. Nyasa Big Bullets host Azam Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium .
Meanwhile, the battle for the golden boot, that comes with a K200 000 prize money, is also getting stiffer as goals continue to flow from all angles.
So far, 134 goals have been scored from 47 matches.. Despite his team Ginnery Corner FC being eliminated in the second round, Dan Dzinkambani is joint leading scorer with Prison United Striker Lawson Chilewe with five goals apiece.
