Catholics fundraise for loan repayment

Catholics from all walks of life are today expected to gather at Limbe Catholic Cathedral Parish to raise funds for Montfort Press loan repayment owing to one of the commercial banks in the country.

The church has recently been mobilising resources towards the repayment of a loan whose total amount it refused to disclose to the media.

Limbe Cathedral exercise is one of the activities the church has lined up to raise not less than K10 million for the cause. Leader of the Catholic Church in the country, His Grace Archbishop Tarcizius Ziyaye, will lead the activity with a celebration of Holy Mass at 9 am.

Thereafter, a number of activities will follow and they will include paper Sunday, full lunch and dance led by Mibawa Band. One of the senior parishioners Osward Mumba said the Church has sent letters to its parishes and Small Christian Communities (Miphakati) asking them to contribute.

Mumba explained that all Christians hold the responsibility to settle the debt to save Montfort Press premises from being re-possessed by the bank.
