CCJP mobilises voters in Karonga
The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace of Karonga Diocese has intensified voter and civic education sessions in the district to woo voters to encourage people to vote on September 16.
To reach many people, CCJP is holding football bonanzas and using public address system mounted on a vehicle.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, CCJP project coordinator Vincent Bwinga said the initiative aims at ensuring that the campaign period is peaceful and aspirants are conducting issue-based campaign.
“All we want is to ensure that voters are aware of electoral procedures and voting processes. We also want to encourage Malawians to go and exercise their constitutional right by electing leaders of their choice,” he said.
An eligible voter, Peter Kanyenda, commended CCJP for engaging voters ahead of the election.
“CCJP reminded us that we have a duty to vote for candidates based on issues and not handouts,” he said.
On his part, Karonga District Football Association member Taniel Njawala urged the youths to be a vehicle of peace throughout the electoral calendar.
“We thank CCJP for this initiative which, apart from being an entertainment, encouraged people to vote responsibly,” he said.
On Saturday and Sunday, CCJP organised football bonanzas at Iponga in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mwakaboko and at Uliwa in T/A Wasambo to mobilise youths to listen to electoral messages.
With funding from Munster Diocese of Germany, CCJP is implementing a three-month Strengthening Democracy through Voter Education and Observation of the Malawi 2025 General Election Project in Rumphi, Karonga and Chitipa districts
