Centenary Bank Limited has given K2 million to Financial Market Dealers Association (Fimda) to help it organise its annual lakeshore conference slated for October 14 to 16 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

Speaking during the handover of the cheque, Centenary Bank Limited head of treasury Jim Kalua said the sponsorship demonstrates the bank’s commitment to its customers and the nation.

He said: “This partnership reflects Centenary Bank’s mission to make people’s lives better as it aligns with Malawi 2063.

“What makes this moment even more special is the fact that our partnership is unfolding under a new brand, Centenary Bank Limited.”

Fimda president Leslie Fatch thanked Centenary Bank for the sponsorship, saying the bank plays a key role in Fimda’s operations.

“We expect a fruitful lakeshore conference and we are enthusiastic to see the successful implementation of MIP-1 pillar 1 which we are here to catalyse into fruition,” he said.

The conference will be held under the theme ‘The role of financial markets in the attainment of the First 10-Year Implementation Plan (MIP-1 pillar 1’.

The guest of honour is expected to National Planning Commission director general Thomas Chataghalala Munthali.
