President Lazarus Chakwera and CAF president Patrice Motsepe have rescheduled their meeting to December this year following tight catalogues from both parties.

There were plans for the two to meet today following a request from the Football Association of Malawi through the Malawi National Council of Sports and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Expected to jet in today: Motsep

But Motsepe is only expected to jet in this morning to launch the inaugural Africa Schools Championship Cosafa Zonal qualifiers at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe in before departing around noon while Chakwera is in the North for prior engagements.

Minister of Youth and Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda confirmed the rescheduling of the meeting, saying: “The State President has engagements in the North while the CAF president will be arriving in the country this morning before departing a couple of hours later. So, it was a bit tight for both.

“Nevertheless, he [Motsepe] is coming again in December and that is when the meeting will take place.

“We have since sent an apology to FAM.”

On his part, FAM president Walter Nyamilandu said: “The CAF president’s programme is very tight. He arrives early morning and he has to depart by lunch hour.

“It was also difficult to meet because the State President has prior commitments.”

Motsepe is sponsoring the continental schools showpiece through the Motsepe Foundation to the tune of $10 million (about K10.3 billion).
