Chapter 1 Sacco donate power backup to Mwanza Hospital

As part of the International Credit Union Day celebration, Savings and Credit Cooperatives (Sacco) in the southern region also known as Chapter 1 Sacco on Saturday donated power backup system worth over K5 million to Mwanza District Hospital.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Chapter 1 Sacco director Patricia Somanje stated that the donation follows an assessment by their committee of the challenges currently facing the hospital.

She said: “This power backup will be allocated for use in the Outpatient Department (OPD), addressing the difficulties patients face in receiving treatment during power outages.

“We are also in the process of providing heaters to the hospital, specifically for use in the maternity ward.”

On her part, district nursing and midwifery officer Agnes Mtonga emphasized that the OPD serves as the initial point of contact for patients seeking medical attention at the hospital.

“We are appealing to other well-wishers to join the Chapter 1 Sacco in extending this generous gesture, which will benefit the maternity ward, the operating theatre, and the laboratory,” she said.
