Speaking during the handover ceremony, Chapter 1 Sacco Director Mphalulo Fatch stated that every year, they celebrate International Credit Union Day by supporting the less privileged through donations of various items to different institutions.

He said: “This year, we are focusing on education, particularly supporting areas that require the most assistance, such as institutions for children with disabilities.

“We have installed a mounted water tank at the Chisombezi Deaf-Blind Centre, provided learning materials, and donated food supplies to these institutions.”

On her part, Sister Eneles Chimbali, assistant superior general of the three institutions, said the donation will help alleviate some of the challenges the institutions are currently facing.

“We encourage people of goodwill to consider the needs of children with special needs, as most of these kids come from underprivileged families.

“The institution is also urging the government to revise the policies used for selecting special needs learners for secondary schools and universities, as the current system, which is the same for everyone, puts learners with special needs at a disadvantage,” she said.

Chapter 1 is made up of Mphunzitsi Sacco, Yathu Sacco, Mudi Sacco, Chilungamo Sacco, Polymed Sacco, Future Sacco, PCL Group Sacco, Sunbird Sacco and Sucoma Sacco.
