Charity hands over 7 boreholes

Formidable Joy, a charitable organisation, has handed over seven boreholes to Mzimba North communities to ease their access to clean water.

Speaking on Monday during the handover at Dunduzu Primary School, the charity’s  executive director Cindee Rood said the solution to improve people’s health and quality of life is providing them with access to clean water.

He said: “Our mission is to provide clean water to communities. I feel sad when I see people struggling to access clean water.

“Again, pupils cannot effectively learn without water.”

Ekwaiweni Tafika Youth Organisation executive director Hlupo Kumwenda, whose organisation is working with the charity, said previously people used to walk long distances to get clean water.

“People were using water from unprotected sources such as rivers and wells,” he said.

One of the community members, Nkosana Mupho Jere, said the availability of water will also enhance the observance of Covid-19 preventive measures such as washing hands.

The beneficiary areas include Lusangazi, Dunduzu, Malivenji, Ekwaiweni, Zuwe and Enukweni in Traditional Authority Mtwalo in the district.
