Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets were yesterday shell shocked following the departure of their key players Yamikani Chester and Hassan Kajoke.

The Nomads’ playmaker Chester resigned from the Lali Lubani outfit after failing to agree terms in new contract negotiations.

He announced his departure from Wanderers on Facebook.

Chester said: “We all have choices and wishes at the end of the day. I had a meeting 30 minutes ago with the team.

“We have failed to agree the terms and conditions. I am free to join any team here or elsewhere I will forever be grateful for

the love and support we shared thanks a lot. God bless you for this, you are my big family.”

The announcement left the Nomads supporters in despair as they pleaded with the Flames attacker to reverse his decision.

However in a statement, signed by Wanderers chaiperson for public relations and media liaison said the team agreed to part ways with the player.

Chester: We all have choices and wishes

Reads the statement in part: “The board of directors of Mighty Wanderers Football Club (2021) Ltd would like to inform the members of the general public and all stakeholders that we have agreed to part ways with Mr Yamikani Chester whose contract was coming to an end.

“We have mutually agreed not to renew his contract. We are grateful for the contribution he has made to the company when he was our player. We wish him the best of luck in his future footballing endeavours.”

Earlier in the day, Silver announced that they signed Kajoke who joined Bullets Reserves in 2018 before earning promotion to the senior side a season later.

In April 2020, Bullets announced that the player had extended the contract for three years until March 31 2023.

In the 2020 season, Kajoke finished the season as the runner-up to the TNM Super League golden boot winner Khuda Myaba with 17 goals.

Kajoke then won the 2021 TNM Super League with 15 goals but failed to defend it last season as his teammate Babatunde Adepoju took over.

Silver have also signed Emmanuel Kaunga, China Chirwa and Gift Chunga.

The Bankers have also released Frank Banda, Mike Robert, Misheck Malaicha and Levison Maganizo while Taonga Chimodzi, Blessings Tembo, John Chalamba and Prince Phiri who still have contracts, are expected to part ways with the club mutually
