Chitipa DC, youth leaders share notes on development issues
Chitipa district commissioner Charles Mhone has urged youths in the district to promote transparency and accountability to monitor development at community, district and national levels.
He made the remarks on Monday during the opening of a day-long District Youth Network elections and orientation of youth representatives who will monitor projects under the Reformed K5 billion Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in the district.

“It is my wish that youths in the district should be more active in contributing to the welfare of their families, communities, district and country by tracking development projects,” said Mhone.
He said that the youth are supposed to be drivers of economic growth as they are not only leaders of the future but also leaders of today.
Mhone also urged youths to refrain from malpractices such as drug and substance abuse, excessive alcohol consumption and smoking cannabis sativa.
Chitipa District Council chairperson Given Kitha urged the youth to elect responsible leaders who will focus on development and the interests of the community.
“Do not elect someone just because of personal benefits, titles and other interests that are not relevant to development. Choose a leader who can deliver for the benefit of everyone,” he said.
Outgoing Chitipa District Youth Network chairperson Moses Mtambo advised the incoming leaders to remain united and seek advice whenever necessary to effectively contribute to the development of their villages, the district and country
