Chitipa United back in Super League

Chitipa United FC are back in the TNM Super League after winning the 2018 Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Simama and Sons (Simso) Premier League championship.

Chitipa United earned the promotion to the top-flight leaguewith three games to spare following their 1-0 victory over Ekwendeni Hammers on Saturday.

Lupakisho Mwalukazingo scored the priceless goal in the 33rd minute, tapping in a cross from the centre.

Chitipa have become the second team from the second-tier regional leagues to earn a slot in the Super League after Mlatho Mponela from the Chipiku Stores Central Region Football League while the South is yet to identify their champions.

Chitipa United have unassailable 85 points from 35 games in the 20-team league.

Bolero United are second with 70 points while Fish Eagles are third with 66 points. Ekwendeni Hammers are fourth with 63 points. They have all played 35 games apiece.

NRFA fixtures secretary Ollens Msonda congratulated Chitipa United for winning the title.

Chitipa United general secretary Pickford Kamanga said they are happy that their dream of returning to the Super League has being realised.

“We are now done with the campaign. We thank God for the success. It was not easy to achieve this. Our focus now will be to prepare for the 2019 TNM Super League season,” he said.
