The Ginnery Corner Church of Christ in Blantyre says it is mobilising resources to boost its benevolence coffers to ensure more people and health facilities benefit from its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The statement comes a few days after the church donated 10 arm-free wheelchairs to the Adult Emergency Trauma Centre (AETC) and the Cancer Ward of Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) to ease mobility of critically-ill patients.

Secretary and minister of benevolence Gary Jumbe said in an interview this week his church intends to undertake a number of initiatives in supporting government efforts to improve people’s livelihoods.

“The church cannot exist where people’s health is poor. That’s why Jesus Christ mandates the church to look after the person’s physical and spiritual needs of the people,” said Jumbe.

He called up Christians as well as well-wishers to contribute to the church’s charity initiatives.
