New Nsanje CCAP church project which started some 21 years ago has stalled because of lack of finances.

The church has membership of around 420.

The project which mainly relied on the church members’ contributions and fundraising activities like Paper Sundays and choir festivals is set to be off until enough funds are made available for the construction works.

Moderator Reverend Gray Mangoni, in an interview is upbeat that said the project estimated cost K9 million (about $30 000) would with help of well wishers set of again soon. The project to be finished needs not less than K7m.

“We bought 94 IBR iron sheets out of the estimated 160 sheets and these costed us K1.3m ($4 333). This church when finished is also expected to accommodate over 2,000 members,” he said.

The project stalled at beam level and it has been in this state for a long time.

“We are looking for money to finish this project and we wrote letters seeking assistance, but nobody has shown willingness to assist,” said the moderator.

The old structure of church they are using might fall when the rain starts in October or November as it has a lot of cracks and it has outlived its life span.

During prayers in the old church building, in his reading from 2 Kings 4:1-7, and Matthews 18:24-35, Reverend Mangoni reminded the congregation on giving.

“Good givers will always be blessed, their pockets will always be full of money like Lake Malawi that never dries because it has outlets, unlike Lake Chilwa that only receives and have no outlet. Because of this the lake is drying.

“If you want your pockets to be full always give without measure, but if you want just a single blessing give once, God will in turn give you according to how you have given,” challenged the moderator.

Those willing to assist the project are requested to contact him on +265-999-225-012.
