CK United, Cobbe’s SRFL title race gets hotter

Chikhwawa United and Cobbe Barracks’ Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division title chase is getting hotter by each passing game.

On Wednesday, Chikhwawa maintained their grip at the top when they thumped Tigers Reserves 5-0 at BAT Ground whereas Cobbe saw-off struggling Kabula United [formerly Escom United] 4-0.

Chikhwawa now have 50 points from 21 games while Cobbe are trailing by just a point [at 49].

Ian Banda and Dave Chadewa scored two apiece in the demolition of Tigers Reserves while Bright Mphamba netted the other goal.

Isaac Vizyalona was the toast of the afternoon for Cobbe after claiming a hat-trick while Prince Phiri scored the other goal.

Zomba United are still third on 44 points also from 21 games after being held to a 1-1 draw by Prison United.

In another game, Bvumbwe Research beat Green Hawks 5-2. Hawks’ striker Andy Kamulete is still the leading scorer with 19 goals.

In Division One, Surestream are still in the driver’s seat with 44 points from 17 games, followed by Blantyre ADD who have 37 points from 18 games. Mitole are third with 35 points from 17 games.
