Police trained in public management

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) is training its officers in public management in preparations for the country’s tripartite elections in May next year.

Inspector General of Police Lot Dzonzi said this in Lilongwe on Monday in an interview on the sidelines of a debate to mark World Human Rights Day.

Said Dzonzi: “As one way of preparing ourselves for the presidential, parliamentary and local government polls, we are running trainings in public management, which have been put in three levels, strategically, tactically and operationally. We are currently focusing on the first two levels.

“The plan is to tune others in trainers so that by the time we go to the polls, we have spread to almost all police stations with the training. We want to handle Malawi’s biggest polls before, during and after with all the professionalism they deserve.”
