Communities laud cash Transfer programme in Mzimba
People in Traditional Authority Kampingo Sibande in Mzimba District have praised the social cash transfer programme (SCTP) for transforming lives and providing relief to the district’s poorest households.
In an interview on Monday, a benefeciary Loras Sakala, from Mazini Tchili Village expressed excitement about how the initiative has transformed her life.

She recalled her struggles before joining the programme including living in a grass-thatched house and being one of the poorest in her community.
“With the programme, I’ve built a better house and take care of my five children,” said Sakala.
She added that the stipend allowed her to raise pigs and chickens, providing a financial safety net for her family.
In a separate interview, M’Mbelwa district council social welfare officer responsible for SCTP Shadreck Mingo advised beneficiaries to invest in businesses while supporting their families to secure long-term independence and allow others to benefit.
