The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has asked community members in Nkhata Bay to fight corruption.

Speaking during a training of area civic education coordinators on the National Anti-Corruption Strategy II, ACB Mzuzu public education officer Boniface Ng’oma said corruption derails development.

“Everyone has a duty to fight corruption. So, let us join hands and support ACB in creating a corrupt-free society,” he said.

Kalua: The approach involves everyone

Ng’oma also urged civil society organisations and community leaders to take part in the fight against corruption because communities respect them.

In her remarks, National Initiative for Civic Education Trust Nkhata Bay civic education officer Lucy Kalua said the strategy will help to fight the vice.

“The approach is good because it involves everyone in the fight against corruption,” she said.

Kalua pledged that her organisation will encourage community members to join the fight.

On her part, Nkhata Bay Area Civic Education Coordinators secretary Alinafe Kanyimbo said the training equipped them with skills to trace and report corruption.

“I will preach the dangers of corruption to my community,” she said
