In a new twist to the protracted transfer tale of striker Tony Chitsulo, Mighty Wanderers FC general secretary David Kanyenda has aid the courts have no jurisdiction over issues surrounding players.

In an interview on Tuesday, Kanyenda said Silver Strikers contravened Fifa statutes by taking Chitsulo transfer issues to an ordinary court of law.

According to Kanyenda, Fifa rules and regulations clearly stipulate that any football misunderstanding between clubs have to be handled by the local football federation before being taken to an ordinary court of law.

“Silver Strikers sued us while the matter was still pending at Sulom, which is a contravention of Fifa statutes and hence the court has no jurisdiction over this matter,” he said.

Kanyenda also denied rumours that Chitsulo has stopped training with Wanderers, saying he still trains with the team and that the discretion to feature him lies with the coaches.

Silver Strikers FC sued Wanderers FC for allegedly failing to pay Chitsulo’s transfer fees. It is alleged that the K1.9 million cheque from Wanderers was referred to drawer (rejected) at the bank.

Since then Silver have been refusing to issue the player’s clearance certificate which would allow him to legally feature for Nomads. However, since moving to Wanderers, Chitsulo has been feature, in several league games.

Efforts to get Silver’s comment on the matter proved futile.

In May this year, Sulom said Chitsulo was properly cleared, claiming if Silver did not want to be paid through a cheque, which is a legal tender, they could have done so before accepting the cheque.
