Charles George, a Luchenza-based bicycle (kabaza) taxi operator, on Wednesday received a modified, motorised bicycle from businessperson and former Blantyre Kabula  legislator Felix Njawala.

In an interview Njawala said he was inspired by George’s story The Nation published and decided to help him to motivate others with physical challenges.

“I was inspired by his story in The Nation. I wanted to ease his life a little bit because now he will be cycling occasionally; only when the device has run out of fuel since it can also be peddled,” he said.

The former legislator advised youths against idling and begging just because they have physical challenges.

George, who has one leg, thanked Njawala for the gift.

“I am happy. I did not expect this. I have seen God exalting himself by visiting me through Felix Njawala. I also thank God for hearing my prayer,” he said.

The modified and motorised bicycle cost K149 000 and was bought in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, according to Njawala. n
