Don’t boycott elections, Ntcheu Nice urges voters

National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust has urged eligible voters in Ntcheu to seize the opportunity of the upcoming September 16 2025 General Election to elect leaders who can champion development.

Ntcheu Nice programme officer Yohane Keala made the call on Monday during a community awareness campaign at Pengapenga Market in Traditional Authority Makwangwala in the district to encourage peaceful participation of voters in the elections and promote voter engagement.

Keala emphasised the importance of voting as both a constitutional right and a tool for positive change.

He said: “Make use of your vote by participating in the elections. If you feel your current leaders have underperformed, this is your chance to replace them.

“Likewise, if you are satisfied with their performance, it’s your opportunity to retain them.”

Keala further warned the youth against being manipulated by politicians to incite violence, stressing that such actions have legal consequences.

“Let’s ensure that we level the playing field to allow candidates market themselves to the electorate through their manifestos so that the voters settle for the best,” he said.

Senior Chief Makwangwala’s representative, Davie Chigumula, thanked Nice for bringing electoral messages to the community.

“This information is critical. It will help people make informed choices,” he said.

Stewart Makokola, a resident of Hola Village, said the awareness campaign served as a timely reminder about the elections.

The campaign was conducted with support from the European Union under the Boma Lathu project.
