EU engages KU youth bridge knowledge gap on development projects

The European Union (EU) in Malawi on Thursday, 5 June 2025, engaged young people in Kasungu District through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and cinema sessions aimed at understanding their perceptions of the EU’s work in the country.

EU Programme Manager for Sustainable Agriculture, Marco Vacirca, said the initiative seeks to close the knowledge gap among youth and improve communication about EU-supported development projects.

“By involving young people directly, the EU hopes to foster awareness and a stronger sense of inclusion in development efforts,” Vacirca explained.

One of the participants, Phaniso Kanjeche, praised the initiative, saying it gives youth a platform to express their views and encourages active participation in development.

The sessions are part of a wider effort covering seven districts: Kasungu, Mzimba, Mangochi, Zomba, Mulanje, Dedza, and Chikwawa.
