Jacaranda School of Orphans in Malawi’s commercial city, Blantyre, held an Easter Fair on Saturday for all age groups.

The fair, which started around 10am, had lots of activities that kept people in a light mood for the rest of the afternoon.

The activities included egg hunting, bouncy castle, designing and painting Easter eggs and a visit to the school’s art exhibition where spectacular works of art done by the students were showcased.

Traditional dances such as Beni also made the day as the students took turns to showcase them to the patrons.

The fair was put together by Jacaranda students with the help of their two volunteers from Germany, Lukas and Irina.

The patronage also had a chance to taste the delicious homemade lemonade at Jacaranda Café coupled with other sizzling delicious meals that included fresh meatballs, all prepared by the students.

Judith Matope, a parent who went with her two daughters, said the Easter Fair was a great idea to provide fun to both children and their parents.

“Children were able to play their own games such as egg hunt and bouncy castle and adults also had time to socialise, appreciate the extraordinary works of art that students at this place do as well as watch traditional dances, among other things,” said Matope.
