FAM concludes alleged sexual harassment probe
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says it has concluded its probe into allegations of sexual harassment against its executive committee member Daud Mtanthiko.
He is accused of having made sexual advances on a female official during the Malawi National Women’s Football Team trip to South Africa for friendly matches last month.

FAM president Fleetwood Haiya was quoted by MBC Radio2FM Sport as having said the findings will be out by May 10th.
He also said during a meeting held at the weekend, the association’s executive committee resolved to allow independent investigations into the matter, citing the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) Commission which showed interest to conduct its own investigation.
“This also shows progress of what we have done,” said Haiya.
The FAM boss also further admitted gaps in the way the matter was handled.
He said: “Initially, we learnt about the issue through media reports and I believe that we didn’t do well in the flow of communication .
“[Nevertheless], FAM takes issues of safeguarding seriously.”
MHRC executive secretary Habiba Osman said they already launched their investigation into the matter.
She said: “ We have already set up a plan to do our investigation which would also lead us to probe how the system is protecting women and others. So, we will examine and assess their safeguarding mechanisms.
“In addition, we want to speak to all the victims, key personnel and others.
“We are confident everything will be done without stumbling blocks.”
Malawi National Council of Sports chief executive officer Henry Kamata said they expect FAM to furnish them with their findings and recommendations.
Last month, Mtanthiko asked to be excused from his duties as FAM executive committee member to pave the way for investigations , but the association went on to suspend him.
