FAM has dropped Flames team manager Franco Ndawa and goalkeeper trainer Phillip Nyasulu from the squad that flies out of the country today for Uganda en route to Benin for July 20 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final preliminary round against the Squirrels.

According to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda, Ndawa and Nyasulu have been left out due to insufficient funds.

“The challenge is funding; otherwise, they could have made the trip. We have informed them about the development and they have understood the situation,” said Nyirenda.

He also said in the absence of Ndawa, the team’s liason officer James Sangala will be able to attend to all issues that are supposed to be handled by the team manager.

Meanwhile, FAM has also released the list of 12 locally based players that leave for Uganda’s capital Kampala this afternoon.

Despite the inclusion of some new faces, coach Young Chimodzi and his deputy Jack Chamangwana have maintained the bulk of the familiar faces.

Goalkeepers McDonald Harawa and Richard Chipuwa have been chosen for the task as first-choice goalkeeper because Charles Swini is injured.

Big Bullets captain and defender Sankhani Mkandawire has also returned to the team. The other defenders are Lucky Malata, Francis Mulimbika, John Lanjesi while South Africa-based defenders Limbikani Mzava and Harry Nyirenda will join the team in Uganda.

Others are Ndaziona Chatsalira, Young Chimodzi Jnr, Phillip Masiye, John and Frank Banda and striker Gastin Simkonda.

The other foreign-based players are midfielders Joseph Kamwendo and Chimango Kayira, strikers Robin Ngalande, Gabadinho Mhango, Chiukepo Msowoya and Atusaye Nyondo.

The Flames are scheduled to line up against Uganda in a friendly match on Tuesday before proceeding to Benin on Wednesday.
