Carlsberg Malawi Limited has pledged continued golf sponsorship.

Carlsberg Malawi’s  senior brands manager (alcoholics) Twikale Chirwa said this during the launch of the Chill Monthly Mugs at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) on Wednesday.

“We really appreciate how BSC is supporting the Carlsberg brand, especially Chill. As such, we will continue to support the game,” said Chirwa.

BSC golf captain Hudson Kantwanje thanked Carlsberg Malawi for its continued support. He also said the ball pool marked the launch of the monthly mugs that will be played between July and December whose winners will qualify for the Mug of Mugs to be played in December.

“Today’s tournament was supposed to be the monthly mug for June, in this case, this month’s mug will be played later,” he said.

Analee Guarino and Roza Mbilizi triumphed in the Carlsberg Chill-sponsored Wednesday Ball Pool played at BSC.

It was a tight contest in the men’s category that saw all the top five finishing on 19 points and the count-out system had to be thrown into fray.

The 16-handicapped Guarino counted out David Nyirenda who played off 17-handicapps, and in turn, Nyirenda counted out eight-handicapped Shiraz Mojoo who also counted out John Suzi-Banda. Justice John Katsala claimed the fifth position.

In the ladies category, the 10-handicapped Mbilizi had 18 points. She pipped 25-handicapped Beatrice Mangawana who had 16 points.

Mbilizi, who is one of the best female golfers on the local scene, also had the longest drive in ladies category on hole eight while Kantwanje had it on hole two in men’s category. Dan Vosloo was nearest to the pin on hole one.
