Has taken charge of Flames: Saintfiet

FAM has said Flames caretaker expatriate coach Tom Saintfiet will be unveiled to the media this morning at Civo Stadium in the capital, Lilongwe.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda said initially the Belgian was supposed to be unveiled on Monday in Blantyre.

“But due to the Flames’ tight programme ahead of the Cosafa Cup, he will be unveiled at a press briefing scheduled to start at 11am at Civo Stadium,” said Nyirenda.

Saintfiet’s unveiling comes in the wake of resistance from some quarters who have expressed dissatisfaction with FAM’s move.

A concerned citizen Teddie Moya is seeking a court injunction restraining FAM from engaging Saintfiet ahead of the Cosafa Cup tournament.

Moya claims two senior national team players have committed to sign the affidavit backing the move.

Saintfiet arrived in the country on Friday and watched Saturday’s international friendly match against Mozambique, which was part of
the 49th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
