Super League of Malawi (Sulom) yesterday unveiled Farmers Organisation Limited sponsorship for the TNM Super League Man of the Match Award.

The firm has taken over the sponsorship of the award, starting with the remaining 78 matches of the TNM Super League 2022 season valued at K4.5 million.

After starting the season without a sponsor for the award, the Man of the Match winner will now be getting K30 000 and a trophy as well as Farmers Organisation Limited products.

Banda: League will help to
sell the company’s brand

Farmers Organisation Limited national sales and marketing manager Ronald Chilumpha said they decided to partner Sulom to contribute to the development of football in the country.

He said: “There are a lot of similarities between farming and football. The farmer prepares the same way a coach prepares for a match. The coach assembles the best players for his team. The farmer also prepares by selecting the best seeds [and] the best pesticides.”

Chilumpha said by sponsoring football, they are also giving back to their clients, farmers.

He said: “Our clients are farmers who also enjoy football after working in the field. By sponsoring football, we are also helping to provide entertainment for the farmers.”

Sulom president Tiya Somba Banda applauded Farmers Organisation Limited for the sponsorship.

He said in return, the TNM Super League will help sell the company’s brand during matches.

He said: “Malawi is an agricultural country. Malawi is also a football crazy nation. Football is like religion in the country.

“This means most of the Farmers Organisations Limited clients, who are farmers, love football. We will help promote their brand.”

Meanwhile, action in the TNM Super League returns this weekend where Farmers Organisation Limited will dish out the Man of the Match Award.

Tomorrow, Mighty Tigers will host Rumphi United at Mpira Stadium while Kamuzu Barracks will face Mafco at Champion Stadium where as Blue Eagles will take on Red Lions at Nankhaka.

On Sunday, Silver Strikers will host Karonga United at Bingu National Stadium while Sable Farming will take on Rumphi United at Mpira Stadium.
