FDH Bank aids people displaced by Tropical Storm Ana

FDH Bank plc on Tuesday handed over a relief package worth K7 million to Adventist Development and Relief Agency (Adra) to help households affected by Tropical Storm Ana.

Through this initiative, each of the 250 households will get Likuni Phala, five kilogrammes of beans, five kilogrammes of corn soya blend, two litres of cooking oil, a packet of salt and two packets of sugar.

Speaking during the handover on Tuesday, FDH Bank plc head of global markets and trade finance Patricia Hamisi said the bank wants to improve the lives of those affected by the natural disaster.

She said: “Being a caring bank, we decided to assist Adra when we were approached for assistance to the people affected by Tropical Storm Ana. We commend Adra’s management efforts in managing the impacts of the floods.

“Last week, we partnered the Department of Disaster Management Affairs to support the families affected in a number of districts with a donation of K27.5 million to make sure that we are making a difference to the communities.”

Adra country director Dennis Matekenya said the donation will help families to have something to eat as they are exploring ways to stand on their feet.

“We have a budget of $100 000 [about K82 million] and currently we have mobilised about K30 million and we are asking for other stakeholders to join hands with us,” he said.
