Fire guts down Bakers Pride Bakery in Limbe

Blantyre City Council (BCC) fire fighters are still struggling to save Bakers Pride Bakery and a warehouse in Limbe which caught fire around 1 am today.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

Early Thursday morning, city residents woke up to sirens of fire engines as the fire-fighters rushed to contain the fire at the bakery at Yiannakis, Limbe, a small commercial hub in Blantyre. Four fire engines were spotted on location trying to put out the fire.

Our reporter at the scene said the fierce fire has gutted down most parts of the bakery, damaging baking machines and other equipment.
