The Fountain of Life (FOL) has said it will work with the police’s Victim Support Unit (VSU) in sensitising the public on how to deal with sexual assaults and support victims of such abuses.

FOL coordinating and advocacy officer Lusungu Kalanga said during an open-day organised in partnership with the Malawi Police Service (MPS) that the organisation has partnered the police to enlighten masses  on the importance of the VSUs.

“We have partnered with the police to support people who have suffered sexual abuse, and to promote positive interactions,” said Kalanga.

She said that her organisation seeks to sensitise the public to how the police help the victims when they go to the police victim support units.

“Police commend the work of various non-governmental organisations such as FOL, which work with the VSU in trying to curb gender based violence’s and other sexual abuses,” said Kanengo Police child protection officer Dorothy Chingaipe.

Director of social welfare from the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, Willard Manjolo, who presided over the event, hailed FOL and then police for the partnership to fight sexual abuse.
