Fomo cautious of Bullets woes

Fomo FC coach Gilbert Chirwa says he is not reading much into FCB Nyasa Bullets recent struggles as the two sides clash this afternoon in a TNM Super League match at Kamuzu Stadium.

The coach, who will be facing his former team, in an interview said he is aware that Bullets have the potential to spin around their fortunes and make things worse for the Mulanje-based outfit.

Chirwa: Most teams are struggling

Said Chirwa: “Besides, it’s not only Bullets who are struggling in the league. Most teams are struggling. Even us, we are also struggling.

“So, this is an important game for us. The fact that Bullets are struggling even makes it a very tough game because as a big team, they will come hard on us as they try to reverse things.”

The defending champions, who swept all silverware last season lie sixth on the log table with 16 points from 12 matches, as they search for a sixth successive league title.

On the other hand, rookies Fomo are 12th with 14 points.

Chirwa, who took over as Fomo coach in February following the team’s promotion to the TNM Super League, said their aim is to collect maximum points and move to seventh.

A win for Bullets will take the Kallisto Pasuwa-led giants to position five.

The Zimbabwean tactician, who last Sunday recorded to an eighth draw after they were held by Civil Service United at Kamuzu Stadium, said his charges need to do some soul-searching going into this afternoon’s match.

Bullets last won a league match in May when the beat Mzuzu City Hammers 2-0 at Kamuzu Stadium.

In other matches, Creck Sporting Club battle Civil Service United at Civo Stadium while Mafco host Karonga United at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota.

Tomorrow, the league action returns as Mighty Mukuru Wanderers  hope to recover from their 2-1 loss to Moyale Barracks as they host Chitipa United, another Northern Region-based outfit at Kamuzu Stadium.

Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos and Kamuzu Barracks clash at Dedza Stadium whereas Baka City FC will host Moyale Barracks at Karonga Stadium.
