Form One learner seeks support

A former student from Chisoka Primary School in Thyolo District Chifuniro Kaliwo, who has been selected to St. Mauritius Secondary School in Rumphi District, is looking for support.

Kaliwo, who sat for the 2022 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) examination and was selected to St. Mauritius Secondary School, says he has failed to go to school as his mother cannot afford to pay school fees.

He said: “I live with my mother who depends on piece work to earn money. We struggle to find necessities and I have no one to provide K200 000 fees for both boarding and tuition and K25 000 for school uniform.

Kaliwo: I need help

“Therefore, I ask well-wishers to help me with school fees so that I can join my friends at school.”

Chisoka Primary School head teacher Rhonney Mwehiwa confirmed Kaliwo’s selection while saying the school has done everything to help the boy, but to no avail.

“We have tried to write proposals to various institutions, but no institution has shown interest. However, we spoke to St. Mauritius Secondary School head teacher who has assured us that his place has been reserved until he gets school fees,” he said.

The boy lives with his mother as he lost his father some years back.

He worked hard to obtain the following grades in PSLCE: Chichewa, A, English, A, Arts and Life Skills, B, Mathematics, A, Primary Science, A, Social and Environment Sciences, A.
