Francis Folley Foundation has supported 135 needy students in Nsanje North with school fees.

In an interview, the foundation’s founder Francis Folley said he wanted to complement government’s efforts in promoting education in the district.

The foundation’s member Miriam Godia (2nd L) hands over a cheque to a student (3rd L)

“We noted that a lot of needy students are failing to progress with their education in the district; hence, the initiative,” he said.

On his part, Fatima Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) head teacher Claudius Nthani commended the foundation for the intervention.

“I am pleased that the organisation has supported 31 learners from Fatima CDSS,” he said.

A Form Four student Sharon Pasupasu said the grant will motivate her to work hard in class.

“I would have dropped out of school due to lack of fees,” she said.

The foundation was established in 2017 to help underprivileged students in the Shire Valley districts.

Some of the beneficiaries are from Namilembe CDSS in Nsanje and Chikwawa Secondary School in Chikwawa.
