Four Malawian sportspersons drilled in administration

Four Malawian sports administrators enhanced their knowledge and skills in sports administration during a two-day Supreme Council for Sports in Africa (SCSA) Zone V1 Women in Sports Conference in Botswana.

Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) vice-president Flora Mwandira, Sports Council sports development officer Ruth Mzengo, Sports Ministry representative Chancy Malamula and Malawi Paralympics Committee (MPC) executive member Glory Maulidi attended the conference which started on Tuesday, and were expected back home yesterday.

According to the SCSA’s press release few days ago, the four were among 40 delegates from the 10 Zone V1 member countries that attended the training which was in line with SCSA Zone V1’s 2013-2018 Strategic Plan of empowering women in sports.

He said the event, which was held under the theme ‘Towards Leadership, Capacity Development, Equal Access and Opportunities for Women in Sport’, also wanted to involve women in deliberating issues that affect their participation in sports in line with the philosophy: ‘Nothing for us without us’.

University personnel, research experts and other resource persons guided the discourse from an academic perspective.
