Gaba in Portugal for trials

Flames forward Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango was set to start trials at Portuguese outfit Vitoria Futebol Clube on Tuesday after arriving in the City of Setubal on Monday.

The South Africa-based forward, who has been reduced to a sideshow at Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Bidvest Wits, said he is hoping to impress.

Mhango: I am ready

“I am ready for the trials and I should spend between a week or two.

“I will give it my best shot with the hope of being offered a  deal,” said Mhango.

The 26-year-old striker has made brief  appearances for Wits this season and he hinted at a possible move when he came for the back-to-back 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions.

“Maybe they [Wits] think I do not suit in their current system, but there are possibilities that I could be on the move soon,” he said.

Mhango joined Wits from Bloemfontein Celtic two years ago.

Flames captain Limbikani Mzava, who is also based in the Rainbow Nation, said he is hopeful that Gabadinho will make the grade.

“The good thing is that he is a fighter and often gets what he wants. Gabadinho is also a gifted forward with lots of experience so I think he has a chance,” said the Golden Arrows defender on Tuesday.
