Gabadinho Mhango has reportedly created a big impression at AmaZulu after scoring twice in the South Africa Premier Soccer League team’s friendly match they won 3-1 against a Durban team on Saturday.

The trials’ linkman Patrick Mabedi confirmed in a telephone interview yesterday that Gabadinho was in his full element for AmaZulu who are shaping up for the July 18 Nelson Mandela Invitational match against English Premier League giants Manchester City.

The Nation

had called to verify reports suggesting that Gabadinho was on his way back to rejoin the Flames ahead of the July 6 match against Mozambique at Civo Stadium.

Gabadinho is on the list of players called up for camp training which started on Monday at the Chiwembe Technical Centre.

“He indeed had a grand game, but for his availability for the July 6 match, that is subject to an agreement between FAM and AmaZulu management. I am not involved. I just recommended the player,” said Mabedi.

On Sunday, AmaZulu publicists Philani Mabaso could not say whether Gabadinho will feature in the competition to involve Man City and Atusaye Nyondo’s SuperSport United.

“I have heard that he is here, but I have not seen him. Let me come back to you,” said Mabaso.

FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda on Monday said it was doubtful if Gabadinho, whose trials are expected to run for five weeks, would be available for the Mozambique match.

Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire indicated that the striker’s travel itinerary shows that he will return on July 31 2013.

South Africa-based Malawian sports journalist Benjamin Nyirenda confirmed that Gabadinho had a grand game.
