Red-hot forward Gabadinho Mhango has vowed to translate his club form to the national team when the Flames host Chad’s Sao this Saturday in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations second-round preliminary qualifier.

Gabadinho’s sheer quality shone like a beacon in the just ended South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) season where he finished as second leading goal scorer with eight goals, two short of the top scorer Kaizer Chiefs’ Bernard Parker.

He also claimed two awards—players’ player of the season and top scorer—for his team Bloemfontein Celtic, a feat that earned him about K2.8 million.

Gabadinho has also been short-listed for PSL Young Player of the Season Award.

“I am very humbled with the recognition and it is timely, coming at a time when we are about to play Chad.

“Should I be featured, I will make sure that I translate my club form to the national team. I want to help my national team beat Chad, that is my desire,” said Gabadinho yesterday morning.

Asked whether his achievements put him under pressure to perform for the national team, the 22-year-forward said: “Not really, but the pressure comes in the sense that I have only scored once for the national team and obviously I would love to score more goals.”
