Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the event, Mhango said it is important that while government is implementing numerous development projects, Malawians get quality works which his ministry has been encouraging for quite some time.

“Development is getting close to where people live and that is the government’s vision.

“We want to ensure that all contractors deliver quality projects within agreed time-frames,” he said.

In a separate interview, Mwanza district commissioner    Humphrey Gondwe said the bridge, when completed, will ease transportation problems currently faced by people within the surrounding communities.

“This bridge will be helpful as it will connect many villages,” he said.

On his part, Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholas Dausi said the bridge will be a catalyst for development as it will help facilitate easy transportation of crops produced within the area.

The bridge is being constructed by the Roads Authority (RA) to the tune of K60 million with funds from road maintenance.
