Artist Hazel Mak has dropped an Afro-house single titled Kumutu, a typical party song from her yet-to-be-named album.

The artist, who is based in the UK, said the song was produced by Mr Kamera, real name Tatenda Kamera, a South Africa-based Zimbabwean producer.

The song was inspired by a night out:  Hazel Mak

“The song was inspired by a night out with friends. I wanted to make a song that everyone can relate to and the beat just made it so easy to write the moment I heard it,” said Hazel.

She said she and Mr Kamera always wanted to work together since the beginning of the year as she truly believes he is one of the most talented people she has ever met.

As part of promoting the single, the artist has launched a competition for her fans who can walk away with K50 000 at the end.

She said: “The competition is for the youth so that they realise that there is money in the show business and that they can use their talents in various ways using different strategies to boost their art and have it enjoyed by the masses.”

An announcement on Hazel’s Facebook page says fans can enter the competition by posting a clip of themselves dancing to the new single.

“The clip with the most views and likes will be the winning clip. Fans can also get Hazel Mak’s new single Kumutu from Malawi-music-com for only K200,” reads the announcement in part.

Hazel explained that since she stopped giving out her music for free, she decided to launch the competition to interact with her fans that have supported her career.

“The last competition I did was to promote my other song Jaiva and it received a great response. Ken Guns won K50 000,” she said.
