High Court adjourns CCLgolfers’ case

High Court judge Healy Potani has adjourned to December 9 the hearing of golfers Imran Daudi and Levison Kapito’s protest against the one-year ban Country Club Limbe (CCL) imposed on them for alleged misbehaviour during the Old Mutual Golf Tournament in August.

The adjournment follows CCL’s excuse at the court in Blantyre on Monday that they are yet to appoint a legal team to represent them in the case as they received the court summons late last Friday.

According to the golfers’ lawyer, Steve Msiska, Potani might decide to pass judgement if the defendants fail to appoint a legal adviser by December 9.

The golfers are seeking a court injunction to stop the CCL from implementing the suspension, arguing that it was meted out without hearing them.

“We are keeping our fingers crossed to see this matter sorted out as soon as possible,” said Msiska.

The suspension from the CCL greens is the second golf ban for the two golfers as they are also serving a five-year ban at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) for the same offence.
