DD Sunshine’s trip to South Africa has been shifted from the end of this month to next month at the request of the Lilongwe women football club’s Pretoria hosts, Juice Burn FC.

On Tuesday, Burn director Ernest Ebrahim Bennett wrote his DD counterpart David Dube over the shift of the tournament from November 2-30 2013. DD Sunshine were supposed to leave on Wednesday ahead of the eight-member invitational tournament.

“We, the management of Juice Burn FC, would like to inform DD Sunshine that our players are sitting examinations, so if you could come on 30 November 2013 and we will have a tournament,” Bennett wrote in a letter The Nation has seen.

On Tuesday, Dube described the postponement as “a blessing in disguise because we were not fully ready.”

“Our players’ passports delayed at the Immigration. End of November gives us ample time on our finances as well. We thank Southern Bottlers [Coca-Cola Malawi] for dressing the squad. We still continue hoping for the best from other partners who pledged to support on this trip.”

Coca-Cola donated T-shirts and caps to the Lilongwe giants which has a shortfall on their bus fare travel expenses having sourced half of the K1 025 000 (about $2 5 required for the trip.
