Huawei switches to MetaERP

Huawei has announced the launch of its MetaERP, giving the global tech provider full control of its business, replacing the Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP).

In a release, the Chinese global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices said
this was the most extensive and complex transformation project it has embarked on to develop a completely self-controlled system.

The project rolled out in 2019 when the United States of America placed Huawei on a supply chain restriction list which increased
business challenges.

Thereafter, its software access was severely hit by difficulties for the ERP system, largely dominated by US-based tech firms which could
not support Huawei.

Tao: We have survived.

America banned the Chinese giant’s smartphones and networking gear, claiming they could be used for spying.

“This new system has already gone live, replacing the old MetaERP [which] has passed the tests of monthly, quarterly and yearly
settlements while ensuring zero faults, zero delays and zero accounting adjustments,” it said.

According to the release, Tao Jingwen, Huawei’s board member and president of the quality, business process and IT management
department said for three years, the firm was cut off from the old ERP system and other core operation and management systems.

He was speaking during an event recognising the thousands of contributors to the breakthrough during an event titled ‘Heroes
Fighting to Cross the Dadu River’ in Dongguan, China on April 20.

“We have not only been able to build our own MetaERP, but also managed to switch and prove its capabilities. Today, we are proud to announce that we have broken through the blockade. We have survived,” he said. Huawei’s rotating chairperson, Sabrina Meng, said experience, commitment and hard work have helped the company achieve its goal. She said: Leaps in technology take a spirit of craftsmanship and years of experience. More importantly, it takes an open mind [to do things] in the way we think.
