Civil Sporting Club talisman Raphael Phiri, whose signature was being sought by Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets, says he will stay put with the Civil Servants.

At the time the transfer window was closing on Saturday, the two teams were still chasing the striker, but in an interview with The Nation yesterday, Phiri said: “I still have a running contract with Civil Sporting and after careful consideration, I have decided that I will not push for a move.

Phiri: I am staying put at Civil Sporting

“There are better openings coming up and I feel it will be good for me if I remain at Civil Sporting”

Asked which team he would have preferred to join between Bullets and Silver, Phiri chuckled and said: “To be honest it was difficult and that is why I decided against joining either of them. Actually, I am at peace of mind now.”

Civil Sporting general secretary Ronald Chiwaula yesterday said: “Raphael is going nowhere, he is still with us.”

As of yesterday, Phiri was the second leading scorer in the TNM Super League with nine goals, a goal short of TN Stars’ Stain Davie. n
