Jacquiline Kainja, wife to Inspector General (IG) of Malawi Police Service, has donated relief items to Lilongwe Police Station-based Sergeant Chinsinsi Jailosi, who lost her property to fire on October 28.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electric fault.

Speaking on Monday after giving her six bags of maize, kitchen utensils, groceries, cash,  a bed and two mattresses, Kainja said the gesture was meant to ease Jailosi’s condition.

“In times like these we need to trust God for all that He does for us. We also need to thank God for saving Jailosi and her family,” said Kainja.

On her part, Central West Region Commissioner of Police Merlyne Yolamu commended both police officers and their spouses for coming to Jailos’s rescue.

“You should do the same when such tragedy befalls any other officer,” she said.

Yolamu, however, called for mindset change among police officers and their spouses regarding their social welfare fund.

Jailosi thanked Kainja for the gesture.

Meanwhile, police have relocated Jailosi to Area 47 police lines.
