Injured ex-Flames striker’s condition improving

The condition of former Flames striker Spy Msiska, who is admitted to Mzuzu Central Hospital, is said to be improving.

Msiska told football officials who visited him in hospital on Monday that he was feeling better.

Those that cheered him included Football Association of Malawi (FAM) vice-president Moses Mkandawire, women football president Severia Chalira, some Northern Region Football Committee members and FAM referees subcommittee chairperson for the North, Zuza Nyondo.

“It is by the grace of God that we are talking to each other; otherwise, it could have been history,” said Msiska.

Msiska’s wife told The Nation that he is improving. She thanked the doctors for their love and care towards her husband.

“The day he came here, he could not move even an inch in his bed, but now he is able to do so, and he can also now speak,” she said.

On his part, Mkandawire said it is sad that the people who worked hard in marketing Malawi through football are involved in such accidents when they still have a duty to impart football skills to youngsters.

“Msiska is not just another former Flames player. He is exceptional. He is an asset to the country and has a family to take care, so it is sad to be in this situation,” said Mkandawire.

  1. As much as I appreciate this piece, I would suggest the article would have been much better with a basic introduction of what brings Msisya in hospital. How was he injured and extent of the injury. Maybe am missing something but for someone like me who did not read anything prior to this article. I find it a bit not complete. Otherwise thanks for the information and wish Spy a speedy recovery.
