Institute of People Management Malawi (IPMM) on Saturday equipped 60 managers with labour laws at a day-long workshop in Mzuzu.

The participants were drawn from various companies and organisations across the country.

Speaking after the workshop, IPMM president Michael Ndaferankhande said his organisation wants a work environment that is guided by labour laws.

“The idea is that all people should be aware of labour laws. If that happens, you will notice that issues will be resolved amicably, with few cases going to court,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Buxton Kayuni, human resources manager at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre, described the training as an eye opener, saying they are now more knowledgeable about labour laws.

“The training was good. I will make use of all the notes we have been given. I hope such workshops will be ongoing,” he said.
