Islamic grouping of the Munazzamat Al – Dawa Al – Islamia (MDI) in Zomba recently gave learning materials to 33 needy students for the 2014/2015 academic year.

The materials included 33 suitcases, 33 school bags, scientific calculators, mathematical instruments, notebooks, pens, clothes and cell phones.

Executive secretary for the trust Jassim Msosa said they made the donation to motivate for students.

“We targeted needy children, regardless of their religion to enable them to learn contentedly,” he said.

MDI executive member Munira Abdullah said it was everybody’s responsibility to take care of needy children’s education.

“If we support the needy, we relieve their hardships until they become independent and contribute to the development of society,” she said.

Zomba Mayor Joana Ntaja hailed the trust for the timely academic intervention and encouraged other stakeholders to emulate it.
