JB hits back at critics
Malawi President Joyce Banda on today hit back at critics of the speech she made at the funeral of former South African president Nelson Mandela.
Addressing a rally at Namitambo in Traditional Authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu, Banda described the ‘woman’ who criticised her as wosavuka [shameless].
“I made a speech at the funeral and the whole world applauded except only one woman in Malawi. Ndinawauza kuti asiyeni, ndiwosavuka [I said leave them, they are shameless people],” said Banda.
The main criticism came from human rights activist Seodi White who accused the President of taking advantage of the funeral to prop up her image.
She also questioned President Banda’s claim that she forgave those who persecuted her when she was the country’s vice-president.
Reacting to the speech, White said she does not regret what she said and wondered why the President is worried about her opinion.
“She says the whole world applauded her except one woman, who is me, why is she worried with one person? Is it because truth hurts?” said White.
She repeated her claim that President Banda is not forgiving as she wants the world to believe.
“Is she really forgiving?
Are facts on the ground showing that? Let Malawians be the judges,” said White, adding that as a Malawian citizen, she will not stop criticising those who use public funds.
The President also criticised those who claimed that she went to the funeral earlier than was necessary. She told the gathering that there were other world leaders such as US President Barack Obama.
“Now they say that I went there (earlier) because, as a woman, I would cook. Did you see me cooking cabbage there?” she said.
President Banda described her political career as a success, saying before she became President, she excelled in all portfolios she held both at party level and in government.
“There are some people who went to Education Ministry and failed; they went to Ministry of Justice and failed; they went to Foreign Affairs and diplomats were chased,” she said.
Trying to gain sympathy which Banda can not see.What did she achieve? Stealing from NABWM is achievement? Stealing from ADMARC is achievement? I have never seen a person who is not ashamed to tell lie upon another lie. Joisi Banda must just pack up her bags and go! But she must leave behind the billions she has stolen. Does she place herself in the level of Obama in performance.

Joyce Banda has no morals and one wonders if there is any iota of humanity in her being. Why can’t she take stock of herself concerning all endeavors she has tried in life before the self praises as noticed since she accidentally ascended to that public office that requires people of integrity and not animal-like? Unfortunately most individuals she compares herself with are miles ahead of her in every aspects. These people have walked through corridors of higher learning institutions and deserve the qualifications they have. They did not go through back doors in order for them to be called educated but worked towards their achievements. It is nonsense and madness to begin competing with them when her achievements can not be supported with any tangible records. By now she should have noticed that she has been a failure in everything. Her peers are the Manjankhosi, Chiponda etc because those are her friends she associated with when it came to composing party hits before one Elson Bakili Muluzi elevated her status to that of branch chairperson of Domasi.
